The Project "A new generation of wines from Tuscia"
The Corte di Tregoniano estate,
property of Giorgio Mottura and managed by his daughter, Isabella Mottura, is part of an estate of approximately 400 hectares that has been in the Mottura family since 1933 and has produced wine for over 30 years.
The estate began the project a new wine generation of the Tuscia in 1997.
The project a new wine generation of the Tuscia has the aim of creating - with the technical assistance of Riccardo Cotarella, a world renowned enologist and close friend of Giorgio - wines of excellence to be offered to the market as a reflection of their area of origin; the Tuscia Viterbese is a land rich in traditions, history and culture yet still lacking its own identity on the national and international wine market. A lack of interest that can also represent a great opportunity. The investment began in 1997 with the creation of 12 hectares of red grape vineyards, both native and international, utilizing the most modern cultivation techniques; in 2001 the restructuring of the estate’s wine cellar started; in 2003 the production of new wines commenced; and in 2005 the wine was put on the market for the first time.
The central idea of the project – increasing the wines’ value by promoting its area of origin, with its history and traditions – also drives the other corporate activities: Isabella Mottura is President of the Provincial Wine Cellar Society and member of the Board of Directors of The Wine Trails of Teverina.
Isabella has recently written VINI in TUSCIA. A guide to the wines of the Tuscia (Latera, Annulli Editori, 2006), a book dedicated to the viticultural wealth and patrimony of the Tuscia territory.
